Increasing the accuracy of structural investigations by MAS spin-echo solid-state NMR experiments

چکیده
The use of rotor-synchronized Hahn-echo pulse train (RS-HEPT) H decoupling, in a MAS (Magic Angle Spinning) N spin-echo NMR experiment allows the use of longer the spin-echo durations compared to the case when conventional decoupling is applied, hence enabling the accurate determination of very small J couplings down to a few Hz. Here, a thorough numerical analysis of the N spin-echo under RS-HEPT decoupling is performed with the purpose of characterizing the factors that still limit its efficiency. The obtained results are promising with respect to further improving the accuracy in the measured J couplings.

Proton-Detected Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy of Bone with Ultrafast Magic Angle Spinning
While obtaining high-resolution structural details from bone is highly important to better understand its mechanical strength and the effects of aging and disease on bone ultrastructure, it has been a major challenge to do so with existing biophysical techniques. Though solid-state NMR spectroscopy has the potential to reveal the structural details of bone, it suffers from poor spectral resolut...
متن کاملHeterogeneous Coordination Environments in Lithium-Neutralized Ionomers Identified Using 1H and 7Li MAS NMR
The carboxylic acid proton and the lithium coordination environments for precise and random Li-neutralized polyethylene acrylic acid P(E-AA) ionomers were explored using high speed solid-state H and Li MAS NMR. While the Li NMR revealed only a single Li coordination environment, the chemical shift temperature variation was dependent on the precise or random nature of the P(E-AA) ionomer. The H ...
متن کاملMolecular dynamics of half-integer quadrupolar nuclei studied by QCPMG solid-state NMR experiments on static and rotating samples. Theory and simulations.
Simulations of QCPMG NMR type experiments have been used to explore dynamic processes of half-integer quadrupolar nuclei in solids. By setting up a theoretical approach that is well suited for efficient numerical simulations the QCPMG type experiments have been analyzed regarding the effect of the magnitude of the EFG- and CSA-tensors, the spin-quantum number, different dynamical processes and ...
متن کاملRationalising Heteronuclear Decoupling in Refocussing Applications of Solid‐State NMR Spectroscopy
Factors affecting the performance of 1 H heteronuclear decoupling sequences for magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy of organic solids are explored, as observed by time constants for the decay of nuclear magnetisation under a spin-echo (T2' ). By using a common protocol over a wide range of experimental conditions, including very high magnetic fields and very high radio-frequency (RF) nu...

2H Magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR), echo 27Al NMR, two-dimensional (2D) echo 1H MAS NMR and 1H, 27Al and 29Si MAS NMR have been applied to study the acid sites of dehydrated zeolites. The quadrupole coupling constants CQCC determined from 2H MAS NMR spectra of Si-OH-Al sites increase with the framework aluminium content of the zeolites from 208 Hz (H-ZSM-5) to 236 kHz ...
